Led by Lei Xianzhang, Xu Weilin and other academician experts, the Clean and Low-carbon Energy Research Department, together with such entities as Southwest Petroleum University, Sichuan University, and Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute of Tsinghua University, explores new theories, technologies and equipment for transition to clean and low-carbon energy based on the clean energy resource endowment of Sichuan Province and centered around interdisciplinary research directions such as source, grid, load and storage, promotes demonstration application of sci-tech achievements, builds a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient new system of modern energy, and promotes the clean alternative for national energy, so as to ensure national energy security.

The Research Department of Resource Carbon Neutrality is led by experts including academicians Shi Bi, Wang Qi, Wang Yuzhong, the department cooperates with Sichuan University, Dongfang Electric, Sinopec etc., the lab focused on the directions of biomass based structurefunction materials, biomass based fuel, and biomass based green polymer materials with the core of biomass raw materialsfuel alternative, to effectively reduce Chinas dependence on fossil resources such as oil, and realize the transformation of underground fossil resources to surface renewable resource, accelerate low-carbon technology innovation and digital transformation in the industry, and promote the high-quality development of circular economy.

Led by academicians and experts such as Xie Heping and Liang Bin, the Carbon Capture and Utilization Research Department, together with Sichuan University, China Petrochemical Corporation and other units, is committed to researching and developing advanced technologies for CO₂ capture and utilization, and tackling key technological problems such as CO₂ mineralization power generation and low-energy electrochemical carbon capture. In this way, the department injects new momentum into the low-carbon and green transformation and high-quality development of Chinas industry, and presents Chinas plans, wisdom, and contributions to the development of the global carbon circular economy.

The Research Department of Carbon Sink and Geological Carbon Sequestration is led by Duo Ji, Liu Qingyou and other academicians and experts, works with Chengdu University of Technology, Sichuan Agricultural University etc., focuses on the fields including geological carbon sequestration, ecological carbon sequestration, zero-carbon geothermal resources etc., and tackles key problems in geological carbon sequestration for CO₂ in waste gas deposits, ecological restoration technologies for ecologically vulnerable areas, materials RD etc., in order to improve the ecological carbon sequestration capability and technical level of CO₂ sequestration, and promote the development of relevant industries including geothermal power generation and comprehensive utilization, and geological and ecological carbon sink.

The Pollution and Carbon Reduction Synergy Research Department is led by Zhang Yuanhang, Li Haisheng and other academicians and experts, works with Peking University, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Sichuan Academy of Environmental Policy Research and Planning, Chengdu Academy of Environmental Protection Sciences etc., and carries out original scientific research and integration for pollution and carbon reduction synergy policies, technologies, monitoring, model system etc., to promote the energy-economy-environment-health-society synergetic development, and help realize the synergy of pollution and carbon reduction and the comprehensive transformation to green economic and social development.

The Department is led by He Kebin, Zhai Wanming, and other academicians and experts and cooperates with Tsinghua University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Institute of Transportation Development Strategy Planning of Sichuan Province, and other entities. It focuses on the three major energy consumers, industry, construction, and transportation by focusing on integration and regional collaborative optimization of carbon-neutral technology systems, accelerating the development of a low-carbon technology innovation system, providing systematic support for major cross-industry application scenarios across the industry chain, facilitating the deep integration of multi-field technologies, and promoting the high-quality cluster development of green and low-carbon sectors.
