In order to actively respond to the "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" goals proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory was officially established in Western (Chengdu) Science City, Sichuan on December 23, 2021.

The laboratory is aimed at the world-class, Sichuan-specific, and low-carbon industries. It consists of Academician Zhang Yuanhang from Peking University, the Director, Academician He Kebin from Tsinghua University, the Director of the Academic Committee, and more than 60 academicians, experts, and scholars in the field of carbon neutrality in China. Relying on Sichuan University, Southwest Petroleum University, Chengdu University of Technology, and Sichuan Agricultural University, combined with common construction by key organizations such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Southwest Jiaotong University, China Academy of Environmental Sciences, Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute of Tsinghua University, and Institute of Transportation Development Strategy & Planning of Sichuan Province, the laboratory will build a highland for talent gathering for carbon neutrality, a pioneer in scientific and technological innovation, and an engine for industrial development.
