The Academic Committee of Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory Successfully Holds Its 2025 Annual Meeting

Release Date:2025-11-30

On November 29, 2025, the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Academic Committee of Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as "the Laboratory") was successfully held in Chengdu. The meeting was held in a hybrid format of both online and offline sessions, with a total of 15 members of the Academic Committee attended. The legal representative and directors of the Laboratory and heads of research centers, institutes, and functional departments were present. The meeting was moderated by He Kebin, Director of the Academic Committee of the Laboratory, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Dean of the Institute for Carbon Neutrality, Tsinghua University.

Academician Zhang Yuanhang, Director of the Laboratory, extended a warm welcome to the attending academicians and experts, and expressed sincere gratitude to all committee members for their sustained support and assistance in the Laboratory's establishment and operation over the years. He noted that the Laboratory's rapid progress from a zero base to high-quality, well-aligned development would not have been possible without the strategic oversight and technical guidance of committee members. As the Laboratory has entered a stage of high-quality development, he expressed the hope that all committee members would continue to provide academic leadership and intellectual support, offering precise guidance to ensure the Laboratory's high-level operation.

The meeting reviewed the Laboratory's and the Academic Committee's work summary in 2025, outcomes of key strategic advisory projects, and the conceptual framework for the Laboratory's "15th Five-Year Plan".

During the session, committee members highly commended the Laboratory's achievements in team building, infrastructure support, and research outputs, fully recognizing its contributions to Sichuan's green and low-carbon transformation. They unanimously agreed that the initiation of the "15th Five-Year Plan" at this juncture was timely, and proposed forward-looking and globally oriented recommendations by integrating national and international trends with Sichuan's distinctive characteristics.

Academician He Kebin concluded by emphasizing three priorities in response to global climate change trends and China's 2035 nationally determined contributions: a) Develop a high-quality "15th Five-Year Plan", ensuring that key tasks and supporting conditions are fully implemented; b) Proactively align with national ministries and commissions to seek inclusion in national special plans and policy support, strategically positioning research in ecological conservation, carbon neutrality, carbon cycling, and more to integrate the Laboratory into national carbon neutrality initiatives; c) Strengthen academic exchange and cooperation by inviting newly elected academicians, recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and Yangtze River Scholars to deliver thematic lectures at the Laboratory, fostering a strong academic atmosphere while expanding its academic influence. Finally, he expressed the hope that the Laboratory would produce another batch of landmark achievements in scientific research before 2030, supporting the transformation and upgrading of Sichuan's green and low-carbon industries and injecting strong green momentum into the province's high-quality development.

Held at a critical juncture when the Laboratory's "15th Five-Year Plan" was transitioning from planning to formal launch, the meeting played an important role in building consensus and shaping long-term development strategies. It further clarified the Laboratory's positioning and key areas of focus, laying a solid foundation for the Laboratory to reach a new historical stage and achieve leapfrog development.
