Prof. Dr. Anke Weidenkaff Visits Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory for Exchange

On the afternoon of May 30, a delegation headed by Anke Weidenkaff, member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the National Academy of Science and acatech, and director of the Fraunhofer IWKS, made an exchange visit to Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory (the "Laboratory" for short below). Dr. ZHOU Ying, Deputy Director of the Research Center for Hydro-wind-solar-storage Intelligent Energy System at the Laboratory and Vice President of Southwest Petroleum University, along with LIU Yucheng, Head of the Scientific and Technological Innovation Department, warmly received the delegation.

During this visit, the delegation visited the laboratory exhibition hall, and learned about the Laboratory's background, research orientation, team establishment, and park development, getting full understanding of the Laboratory's exploration and achievements in institutional mechanisms and technological innovation. 

During the symposium, Prof. Dr. Anke Weidenkaff briefly introduced the Fraunhofer IWKS to the attendees. Subsequently, researchers from the Polymeter Green Low Carbon Processing and Resource Utilization Research Center and the Research Center for Biomass Zero-carbon Fuels made in-depth discussions with Prof. Dr. Anke Weidenkaff and Prof. Gert Homm. They explored topics such as the utilization and recycling rates of polymer materials, the prospects for hydrogen energy applications, and the potential integration of basic research with industry needs. 

According to LIU Yucheng, the research focus of the Fraunhofer IWKS on various material recycling and substitution strategies matches with the research philosophy of some research centers at the Laboratory. In the future, both sides can strengthen communication and cooperation in relevant areas to explore practical collaboration.
