Introduction
Clean and Low-carbon Energy

For the foreseeable future, the world will become heavily reliant on fossil fuels, particularly low-carbon natural gas. Therefore, before non-fossil fuels become the dominant energy source, natural gas represents the most practical energy source for China’s transition from high-carbon to low-carbon energy utilization. Accelerating the development of natural gas is the most realistic option to achieve the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality strategic goals.

The Research Center for Green Development and Utilization of Natural Gas is engaged in research on the following fields: the seamless conversion in pits of green drilling fluid and cementing fluid, the integration of nano - supercritical carbon dioxide fracturing - gas repelling - storage and burial, underground in situ hydrogen production synergy for recovery ratio increase and carbon dioxide storage and burial, underground large-scale hydrogen storage bank, hydrogen-doped natural gas pipeline network transportation, and intelligent perception early warning and dynamic optimization control. It aims to build itself into a national strategic force and innovation source of low-carbon, green, and efficient development and utilization of natural gas. By 2030, the center plans to expand its demonstration applications, establish large-scale industries, incubate high-tech enterprises, and make breakthroughs in a new round of technologies.

My Research Team

The Research Center for Green Development and Utilization of Natural Gas currently has 29 researchers. These researchers include candidate academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, winners of the title of National Outstanding Professional and Technical Talents, heads of the National University Huang Danian-style Faculty, National Specially Appointed Experts, Young Top-notch Talents of the National Ten Thousand Talent Plan, experts enjoying special government subsidies, foreign academicians of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, national candidates for the Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project, Outstanding Talents in the New Century of the Ministry of Education, Tianfu Outstanding Scientists, heads of the innovation team of the “Tianfu Young Talent Plan”, Leading Talents in Tianfu Science and Technology, young talents of the “Tianfu Emei Plan”, reserve candidates for Academic and Technical Leaders in Sichuan Province, Outstanding Youngsters of Sichuan Province, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Tianshan Leading Talents, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, and 32 person-time awarding of Technical Experts with Outstanding Contributions of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The researchers have been awarded a total of 10 awards, including the special, first, and second prizes of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards and the first and second prizes of the National Technological Invention Awards, and more than 30 provincial and ministerial special and first prizes. They have also received the Sichuan Province Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award, National Award for Excellence in Innovation, Sun Yueqi Energy Award, Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Progress Award, and Li Siguang Prize in Geological Sciences. These achievements have contributed to the formation of a talent team system encompassing high professional quality members.
