Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory Successfully Held Its First “Tianfu Carbon Neutrality Academic Salon”

Recently, Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory successfully held its first “Tianfu Carbon Neutrality Academic Salon”. This salon was hosted by the Research Department of Resource Carbon Neutrality of Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as “the Laboratory”) and co-organized by College of Carbon Neutrality Future Technology of Sichuan University and Sichuan Carbon Neutral Technology Innovation Center. With the theme “Solid Waste Treatment and Low Carbon and Clean Resource Utilization”, this salon invited ZHAO Youcai, a “Tianfu Scholar” of Sichuan Province, a leading scientist at the Research Center for Biomass Zero-carbon Fuels of the Laboratory, and a professor of Tongji University, as the keynote speaker. LIU Yucheng, Head of the Scientific and Technological Innovation Department of the Laboratory, and JIANG Xia, Secretary General of the Academic Committee of the Laboratory, Director of the Research Center for Biomass Zero-carbon Fuels of the Laboratory, and a professor of Sichuan University attended the salon. The event was presided over by WANG Bangda, Associate Researcher of the Research Center for Biomass Zero-carbon Fuels and an associate professor of Sichuan University.

LIU Yucheng stated that Tianfu Carbon Neutrality Academic Salon is a positive response to the request of the Academic Committee of the Laboratory at its second meeting to “establish more academic exchange platforms and create a healthy and dynamic academic exchange atmosphere”. LIU Yucheng introduced the Laboratory’s top-level design and action strategy to enhance its scientific and technological innovation capacity, and he expressed full recognition and congratulations to the Research Department of Resource Carbon Neutrality for successfully organizing the first salon.

Subsequently, Professor ZHAO Youcai gave an academic report titled “Discussion on of Solid Waste Pollution Control and Resource Utilization Engineering Application Technology and Carbon Emission Reduction and its Development Direction”. In this report, focusing on several typical solid waste treatment and resource utilization engineering technologies developed and applied by his team, Professor ZHAO Youcai introduced the research results on classified waste disposal and environmental health risk prevention and control technologies, as well as the treatment and resource utilization technologies for different types of waste such as residual waste, organic waste, mixed household waste, electronic waste, and medical waste. Professor ZHAO Youcai shared his unique insights into solid waste pollution control and resource utilization of carbon emission reduction, providing new ideas and great references for participants to carry out scientific research work. In addition, Professor ZHAO Youcai systematically elaborated on the key issues to consider when applying for scientific research projects and technological awards, as well as the experience and insights he gained over the years from project applications and assessments.

During the exchange and interaction session of the salon, Professor ZHAO Youcai conducted in-depth discussions with other experts and scholars. Professor ZHAO Youcai’s cutting-edge academic knowledge and practical guidance on personal development planning for researchers greatly assisted them in enhancing their research skills.

“The Tianfu Carbon Neutrality Salon not only provides opportunities for researchers in universities, research institutes, and enterprises to exchange ideas freely, but also helps to stimulate the research enthusiasm of researchers of the Laboratory, playing a positive role in improving research levels,” said Professor JIANG Xia. In JIANG Xia’s speech, she mentioned that participating experts and scholars actively exchanged ideas, explored the forefront of carbon neutrality technology research at home and abroad, and shared the latest research results and academic insights. JIANG Xia expressed hope that these researchers could come up with more innovative ideas for addressing various challenges of carbon neutrality development both internationally and domestically.

This salon attracted over 40 professionals, including researchers from the Laboratory, teachers and students from higher education institutions such as Sichuan University and Chengdu Medical College, as well as experts and scholars from enterprises and institutions such as CECEP Construction Engineering Design Institute Limited Company, Dongfang Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. of Dongfang Electric Corporation, and Chengdu Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd.
