The Second Meeting of the First Council of Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory Is Held

On December 23, 2023, Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as “the Laboratory”) successfully held the second meeting of the first council in Chengdu. The Laboratory’s 2023 work summary was stated at the meeting, and the change list for the Laboratory’s first council members and 2024 work plan were reviewed and approved. Zhang Yuanhang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the Laboratory; He Kebin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the Academic Committee of the Laboratory; Chen Lizhang, Deputy Secretary of the Sichuan Tianfu New Area Party Working Committee and Director of the Sichuan Tianfu New Area Administrative Committee; and Zhao Jinzhou, Co-Executive Director of the Laboratory and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation, attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Zhong Hongwei, a committee member of the Sichuan Tianfu New Area Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Sichuan Tianfu New Area Administrative Committee.

During this session, Zhang Yuanhang, Director of the Laboratory, addressed the attendees on behalf of the Laboratory. Zhang Yuanhang highlighted that 2023 marked the first year to fully implement the construction of the 20th CPC National Congress. In accordance with the strategic development planning and upholding the work philosophy of big picture, overall situation, and holistic view, the Laboratory has achieved initial results in all aspects of its work. The Laboratory would make efforts in both promoting scientific and technological innovation and conversion of scientific and technological achievements, and had the responsibility and confidence to excel in both endeavors. Moreover, he hoped that all council units would continue to support and guide the Laboratory, aiding the Laboratory in reaching new heights of success.

At this meeting, Director Zhao Jinzhou reported to the council on the 2023 work summary and the 2024 work plan around six aspects: organizational construction, team building, scientific and technological innovation, achievement conversion, cooperation and exchange, and support and guarantee.

After listening to the report, the representatives of the Laboratory’s council units fully affirmed the Laboratory’s work performance this year and put forward opinions and suggestions for the construction and development of the Laboratory.

Finally, Comrade Chen Lizhang, Chairman of the first council of the Laboratory, stated in his concluding speech that as a provincial-level laboratory, the Laboratory has started solidly and effectively, achieving an excellent starting from scratch. For the next phase, the Laboratory’s objectives and tasks, and functional positioning should be further clarified and strengthened. This involves aligning the innovation chain with the industrial chain and vice versa. Then, the Laboratory should provide support for the development of the industry through technological innovation. Moreover, the Laboratory needs to explore a new type of national system, build a more flexible institutional mechanism, and concentrate the advantageous resources of all parties to contribute to the realization of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.

Officials in charge of relevant departments in Chengdu and Tianfu New Area, as well as representatives of relevant units involved in the Laboratory’s construction, attended the meeting.
